Making site-specific projects in Lower Austria

27 July - 9 August 2015

7 young KYT members and 2 leaders went to Austria in July to take part in two weeks of theatre-making along with 60 other young people from Romania, Czech Republic, Greece, Austria, Poland and Estonia.

The project, called 'theatre.camp' was organised by Austria's largest youth theatre, BiondekBühne in Baden with funding from the EU Youth fund Erasmus+. Our participation was covered by the Erasmus+ grant.

theatre.camp brought the young people together with artists from around the EU to create performances that were staged in the streets of Vienna and Baden. The group stayed in the countryside in Lower Austria for the project (in the HQ od the Austrian Scouts Association).

Our leaders were Caolán Dundon (who facilitated the Stage Combat workshops and directed one of the performances with participants using music, mask and movement). Debbie O' Rourke was the youth worker on welfare duties.

Members of the Irish group on one of the theatre.camp's activities (geocashing) were, (left to right): Caolán Dundon, Noelle Keogh, Lauren Kelly, Graham Butler Breen, Sarah McCormack, Rachel Foran and Alec Delany. In the front are Leni Gerlich (from Austria) and Elliot Nolan. Picture by Debbie O' Rourke.
