Final chance to see Hospital Food and Indigo

Friday 14th Aug, 7.30pm

Kildare Youth Theatre will celebrate the end of its summer with a unique night of entertainment in Riverbank Arts Centre on 14th August. At 7.30pm (note early start time), the group will stage a double bill. Indigo is the first performance in this double bill.

It features a cast of 22, who devised a remarkably moving tribute to Ireland in the wake of the marriage Equality referendum. The piece was first staged at Scotland's National Youth Theatre Festival in July, and can now be seen for the first time locally. It is directed by Evan Lynch with Kyle Walsh.

Hospital Food by Eugene O' Hare became the third Kildare Youth Theatre production to be selected by the National Theatre in Britain for performance in London's South Bank (in the Dorfman stage of the National in July). This much-talked-about show has left audiences extremely moved, and has won plaudits and awards this year. It features a cast of ten, playing a group of teenage cancer patients in a city hospital, who navigate their way through friendship, betrayal and mortality in exceptionally strong performances.

This is the final chance for Irish audiences to see this production, directed by Peter Hussey.

As a busy season comes to a close, Peter remarked “We look forward to working with many more young people from September onwards. Our work is voluntary, and we engage with over 150 teenagers and young adults every year in many different projects.”
